At DRose, we are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all individuals, especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Although our work does not generally include direct engagement with vulnerable groups, we acknowledge the importance of safeguarding protocols to ensure appropriate practice is maintained at all times.
This policy outlines our responsibilities and procedures for safeguarding, ensuring that we follow the standards and referral processes set by North Northamptonshire Council. It reflects our dedication to protecting those we work with and supporting the wellbeing of our community.
1. Purpose
This policy outlines D'Rose commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults. It ensures that all activities and engagements follow the safeguarding procedures set by North Northamptonshire Council and relevant statutory guidance.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and partners working with or on behalf of D'Rose, particularly in community-based projects, research, or development work involving vulnerable groups.
3. Policy Statement
DRose believes that:
The welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults is paramount.
All individuals, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, have the right to protection from harm.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

5. Roles and Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): The business owner or appointed team member will act as DSL, responsible for managing safeguarding concerns and liaising with local authority services, when specific projects or contracts require a DSL.
Where projects or contracts require work with vulnerable groups, relevant team members and associates must:
Be aware of signs of abuse or neglect.
Report concerns immediately to the DSL.
Complete safeguarding training appropriate to their role.
Apply for and successfully receive appropriate DBS and background checks as required by the project or contract.
6. Safeguarding Procedures
Follow local authority specific referral process for reporting concerns, to be identified and highlighted in the project proposal or contract terms.
Maintain confidentiality and accurate records of any safeguarding incidents.
Cooperate fully with local authority investigations and procedures.
7. Safer Working Practices
Follow appropriate lone working procedures with vulnerable individuals where possible.
Ensure consent is obtained for any data collection or engagement.
Use inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory language and behaviour.
8. Training and Awareness
Specific safeguarding training will be provided for projects and contracts which include direct work with vulnerable groups
All relevant team members will receive basic safeguarding awareness training, as required to fulfil the contract delivery.
The DSL will undertake formal safeguarding training, as determined by the nature and extent of relevant projects or contracts.
9. Reporting and Escalation
Concerns and observations will be reported to the DSL immediately.
If a child or vulnerable individual is at immediate risk, contact emergency services or the local authority specific Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
10. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to changes in legislation, local authority guidance or contractual developments.
